LANGUAGE QUALITY ASSESSMENT SERVICES
A quality evaluation
It can be hard to know whether a translation is fit for purpose – especially when you don’t speak the language and aren’t an expert in translation. Our professional Language Quality Assessment service will give you a crystal-clear overview of a translation’s quality, so you can quickly and easily identify focus areas that need improvement, and optimise your translated content and localisation processes.
Plan to improve
Our professional localisation assessors use a scorecard system (which can be tailored to you depending on areas that matter most) to check through your translated documents and grade any errors by severity and type. With the support of LQA, you can identify whether or not using Machine Translation will be cost-effective for your needs, or better understand whether your current process or provider is working for you. You’ll be left with a thorough and impartial analysis of each issue, with detailed commentary on subjective decisions.

Language Quality Assessment FAQs
It can be useful for many different reasons. Many of our clients want to understand the quality of some of their content that was translated years ago, to see if it can be reused. Some use it for training their own custom machine translation engines. Others use it to test the quality of webpages that aren’t performing well, or different language service providers.
We follow a stringent ISO 17100-governed QA process and work with experienced and trusted linguists, who are thoroughly briefed on the evaluation process, and given a detailed framework of objective errors and how to grade them.
LQA gives a more objective, detailed, and ‘tangible’ form of review and feedback, and tells you more about the quality of a piece of content than a more straightforward review, which can be subjective.
We call it an ‘assessment’ because we provide you with a detailed evaluation of a translation’s quality. But in a sense, it will of course also provide you with Quality Assurance.
We charge per hour (approx. 500 words per hour) and can give you an idea once we’ve met to discuss your needs. As a rule of thumb, 500 words could cost approx. £50 + VAT.
