I love mindfulness and yoga and I’ve been practising it for more than 15 years. As a qualified yoga teacher and coach, I help other entrepreneur mums to stay active and healthy, be more productive and achieve real life-work balance. With 2 little bilingual children, I can relate!

Brief info

I started enjoying languages as soon as I was 11 when I learnt English. I then learnt German, 2 years later, Russian (trying my best!) at University and some Spanish, so it is all natural for me to want to share my passion for languages by teaching my own: French! I’ve been doing that for now 32 years in the UK and it is fascinating to discover how your own language can be learnt through tips and tricks in order to make an impact and help learners to get a grip of it.

My motto: the more you use it, the better you become at it. Sounds simple but only some sort of (non-boring) routine helps to achieve that. I wouldn’t be able to do anything else with the same passion and I love to share anything you need to learn about my country (culture, food, history…) to anybody who is interested and wants to discover more.

Personal Fact

I’m building my family tree and have now discovered why I feel so passionate about languages with the variety of individuals who are part of it!

Brief info

I joined the translation industry in 1991 after graduating from the University of Wales in 1990, working initially as an in-house translator before moving on to a Head of Translation role in order to gain business and project management experience. I’ve been a freelance translator for over 20 years now, and even after all this time I still love my job! Language is a source of endless fascination to me, and I really enjoy the challenge of conveying meaning from one language to another.

Personal Fact
I have an enormous music collection, and in particular I love ABBA and their related works. Besides books and equipment, my office is occupied by lots of ABBA memorabilia and records. And my other two “staff members” – my two big dogs.

Brief info

I started working as a translator about fifteen years ago, after I discovered that a master’s degree in Dutch language and a teaching certificate is not going to get you much in the beautiful State of Maine, where I live with my wife, daughter and our cat Walter. I specialize in IT, business and marketing, and just started my training in subtitling (which I am very excited about!).

I collect cheap horror paperback novels with those amazing covers and read about one every week.

After a career in business and teaching, I qualified as a translator in 2004, working from English into French, my mother tongue. Besides my Diploma in Translation, I hold an MA in Languages and an MA in International Business.

Brief info

My working life has been eclectic and never dull. It has spanned the public and private sector, multinationals and start-ups, business and the arts, back office and front line service provision.

I retrained in EFL 7 years ago and have taught a wide range of students of varying ages, nationalities and levels.

I love teaching Business English (particularly cultural awareness courses and 1: 1 intensives) because of the opportunity it presents to really engage, deliver useful, targeted content and improve understanding (for all of us!)

Personal Fact
I love walking and being outside (possibly more than my two youngish children!) The fact that I’m innately curious means I’m permanently getting lost (or, as I see it, just discovering new places on a regular basis).

Brief info

I have a background in radio and television for French speaking media which led me to translating and teaching French years ago. What I enjoy the most is working as a voice-over artiste!

Personal Fact
I was one of the French voices for the live announcements at the 2012 Olympics and my voice has been used on a “Beautiful World” track album which was sold worldwide.

Bio
A formal Royal Naval Officer, I graduated with a CELTA in 2015 and went on to work with companies such as Reckitt Benckiser, Bauer, Johnson and Johnson and Jansen and Pfizer. Currently, I am working as a teacher of English at the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom in Shrivenham.

Personal Fact
As for unusual, You name it, I’ve done it!
Been inside the Kremlin, lived in Moscow,
Fired the midday cannon in Vladivostok, had my photo taken with Jamal at a party and gave Sir Tim Rice a cigarette at a party (he asked me for one).
Mistaken for a close protection Officer during a visit to St Petersburg by Prince Charles and was taken to a room full of Russian VIP bodyguards where I received a respectful nod!
Sailed down the Yangtze River and have been invited to Buckingham Palace, twice!

I graduated in English and Portuguese Language and Literature and am a specialist in English Language.
I’ve been working as an English/Spanish > Brazilian Portuguese translator since 2000.
My main areas of work are Business/HR/Marketing; IT; Medical; Travel and Engineering.

Personal Fact
I’m a mountain biker and started participating in some competitions in 2020.
My husband is also a translator, we met through a translation agency, our first date was on International Translation Day (September 30). We got married of course on… September 30.
I love cats and cooking!

Brief info

I was born and grew up in OSAKA, Japan and my passion towards English language and films took me to the United States shortly after I graduated from high school. I graduated with a BA degree in International Relations from the State University of New York at New Paltz in 1995, then I worked in the US for about a year before returning to Japan. Whilst living in Japan for the next 5 years, I met my wife and married her in the UK in 2001. Since then, I have been living in Swindon. After being made redundant from a logistics company, I decided to change career and become a language teacher, I am fully dedicated to looking after my students and enjoy seeing their success!

Personal Fact
I am 3rd Dan Black Belt in Shotokan Karate and teach children karate in Swindon. I am also a father of two bilingual sons.
