Dialogue is on the menu at Jamie’s Italian

Dialogue is working with the Jamie’s Italian team to translate these highly individualised eponymous menus for his restaurants in Hong Kong, Istanbul and St Petersburg.

But retaining Jamie Oliver’s persona and passion, using his own unique expressive vocabulary, is challenging. “It is much harder than it seems” says Cathy Branson of Dialogue. “Try rendering terms like ‘posh chips’ or ‘lamb lollipops’ into intelligible and yet equally whacky local equivalents.”

Jamie’s Italian is inspired by Jamie Oliver’s passion for the Italian way of life. From Jamie Oliver himself “The thing I love most about the Italians is that somehow, although they have some of the best fashion designers and cars in the world, they’ve managed to retain a unique sense of tradition and village spirit”.
