Remote Interpreting Services FAQs

You need your phone or computer with a working camera and microphone. And we recommend using a headset rather than the PC’s internal sound system, which makes a huge difference when it comes to clarity and ease of communication.

When a face-to-face meeting isn’t possible, it’s ideal. It’s also a very cost-effective solution and can usually be set up at relatively short notice. Interpreters can be patched into your video meeting as required.

The interpreter joins your video call, you speak for a short time and the interpreter translates what you’ve said into the target language and then translates the response back from the other caller/s. For bigger meetings, platforms such as Zoom allow you to interpret in real-time (simultaneously), by being in a remote ‘booth’ and translating at the same time as the main speaker, for those who are invited to listen to the translated channel.

Yes! Both consecutive and simultaneous interpreting can be carried out remotely. Whilst consecutive interpreting can be used with any remote platforms and via phone, it is worth noting that simultaneous interpreting can only be used with certain programmes.
